Madison Country Day School’s student newspaper and news website, The Prairie Hawk Press, provide complete and accurate coverage, journalistically responsible, ethically gathered, edited and reported. Student-determined expression promotes democratic citizenship through public engagement diverse in both ideas and representation.

The Prairie Hawk Press is a public forum for student expression in which students make some final content decisions and not all content is reviewed by school officials.

The Prairie Hawk Press has been established as a public space for student reporters and editors to empower, educate and advocate for their readers as well as for the discussion of issues of interest and concern to their audience. Advisers may coach and discuss content during the writing and editing processes.

Because MCDS school officials do not engage in prior review, and the content of The Prairie Hawk Press is determined by and reflects only the views of the student staff and not school officials or the school itself.

The Prairie Hawk Press at Madison Country Day School is located in Waunakee, Wisconsin, and was founded in 2025.
